Zhengzhou, CN - Lighthouse award in Productivity

Oct 2024

The site produces hydraulic supports for coal mines and faced rising local labour costs (manufacturing labour at roughly twice the typical rate), limited digital skills across the workforce and pressure to shorten lead times for highly customised, heavy machined assemblies. As the manufacturer's largest plant, it was tasked with both transforming its own operations and charting the path for sister sites. Across 48 use cases combining IoT, machine learning and automation, it reduced lead times by 66%, raised output per person by 205% and lowered defect rates by 73%.
