A greenfield refinery designed and built with the stated ambition of being among the most technologically advanced in its industry, backed by a $71m technology investment. Operations were ramped through a downturn and pandemic by relying on a dense IIoT stack, a transferred digital culture from a sister site, and a small dedicated digital team. 4IR projects delivered roughly $35m of EBITDA uplift in nine months, recovering about a quarter of 2020 EBITDA losses.

A urea and ammonia plant that had reached its physical capacity built an in-house 4IR stack — energy-network optimisation, autonomous process control, digital twins, generative-AI maintenance copilots and robotic inspection — to lift throughput, cut natural-gas use and remove operators from hazardous zones. Volume rose 21% to 652 thousand tons of urea while Scope 1&2 emissions fell 19% and natural-gas intensity 24%. The blueprint is now being replicated across the parent group and external sites.
