A small electrical-components manufacturer pursued a pragmatic Fourth Industrial Revolution programme from 2015, betting that lean foundations, focused operator training and a tiny in-house developer team could digitise the shop floor without significant capex. The result was a 7.05% rise in overall equipment effectiveness and a financial benefit worth 7-8% of turnover between 2016 and 2017, with the approach later offered to other small and medium-sized enterprises.
