A high-volume DRAM memory site set out to improve cost per unit competitiveness by raising tool availability, accelerating yield cycles of learning, and detecting quality deviations earlier. It built a dedicated data-science organisation and an integrated IIoT-to-MES platform, then ran AI-led use cases across material handling, in-line vision, yield analytics, facilities and remote operations.

The site set out to improve cost per gigabyte of 3D NAND flash by shortening time to market for new products, lifting tool availability through capex optimisation, and raising labour productivity. It built an in-house manufacturing execution system on an integrated big-data platform, and stood up dedicated global (200 FTE) and site (40 FTE) data-science teams working alongside IT and functional experts.
