The plant retooled itself for a climate-changed operating environment in which raw-water quality is more volatile and demand harder to predict. Operators converted a conventional, manually steered treatment process into an AI-led autonomous operation supported by a digital twin and machine-learning maintenance. The result was a 14% cut in chemical use, a 9-10% cut in energy and CO2 per cubic metre, and a 78% gain in labour efficiency.
