Hisense Group was founded as the Qingdao Number 2 Radio Factory in 1969. It is now a multi-billion dollar global conglomerate with two listed companies, one on the Shanghai Stock Exchange and one on the Shenzhen and Hong Kong stock exchanges. Its products and services include multimedia, home appliances, telecommunications and information technology. It has 60,000 employees around the world.

A sustainability-focused Lighthouse making VRF, chiller, RAC/LCAC and air-to-water heat-pump systems faced rising SKU variety and tightening energy-efficiency standards. The plant responded by digitising product development, flexible assembly, supply-chain planning, shop-floor performance management and operator training to lower emissions and improve responsiveness.
