This nuclear station runs a fleet of pressurised-water reactors and carries a safety burden that few plants face: more than 30,000 procedures, 360,000 equipment items and 300 systems, with many safety-critical tasks still executed by hand. Conventional procedures and classroom training had reached their ceiling, so the site set an ambition to double both safety and efficiency by building digital capability into the whole workforce rather than bolting on isolated tools. Over three years it scaled 45 fourth-industrial-revolution use cases across tailored training, data-driven talent deployment and human-machine error prevention, turning operators from task executors into problem solvers who write their own software. The number of digital-skilled staff grew more than tenfold, digital coverage of work-management processes rose from 14.8% to 100%, the human-error rate fell 71%, and profit per employee climbed 50% even as headcount shrank from 1,304 to 1,012 FTEs.
